Charles F. Medlock

I am an artist living and working in Austin, Texas. I graduated with a degree in English and a minor in photography from UT, where I was influenced by the landscape photography of Lawrence Mcfarland and the ceramics of Eric Jackson. I was one of many that fell in love with the city and chose to stay.

I make images inspired by abstract expressionism, sumi brushwork, and the American West. I follow a process of discovery when creating images, using fluid but eruptive brushwork to form a base that is then distilled with color, tone and shape.

I am married to my beautiful wife Martha, and we have a furry companion hound dog named Scout.
